Perplexity has launched hybrid compute for its Mac app, combining cloud-based search, planning, and reasoning with a smaller model running on the user’s Mac. A built-in privacy check decides whether sensitive steps stay local, are masked, blocked, or shared with permission; Perplexity has also released the privacy classifier’s code openly.
