Job Description
GDMS-C is currently hiring for a experienced Aircraft Mission System Engineer (Mission Equipment Specialist) to join our Manned Airborne Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (MAISR) In-Service Support (ISS) Team.Â
You will be responsible for the provision of technical support for the MAISR PME subsystems, the MAISR Part Task Trainer (PTT) and the MAISR System Integration Laboratory (SIL).You will also support Voyageur aviation AME’s and technicians performing aircraft maintenance both at the Main Operating Base – 8 Wing Trenton and Forward Operating Bases (FOBs).
This position will liaise frequently with the MAISR Weapon System Manager, GDMS-C Main Operating Base Site Manager, Voyageur Aviation AMEs and technicians, Field Service Representatives (FSRs), and end users regarding technical matters, problems encountered in the field and their resolution.
Reporting to the MAISR Program Manager including, you will also:
- Act as the primary subject matter expert for the MAISR PME, including its Mission Management System, the PTT and the SIL.Train, coach, guide and support to the Voyageur Aviation AMEs and technicians associated with the maintenance and troubleshooting of the aircraft’s PME, the Part Task Trainer and the SIL.Liaise with other elements of the Fielded Systems Support Services team for the delivery of comprehensive customer service.Develop and manage personnel, processes and tools related to the delivery of maintenance that supports a very high level of aircraft availability.Provision of training, mentoring and coaching for technical personnel.Provision of technical, engineering and/or maintenance support to the Customer.Develop and maintain relationship with end-customer personnel and equipment manufacturers for all PME related elements of the MAISR aircraft, including its Mission Management System software and all sensor systems.Maintenance of an awareness of future upgrades, capabilities and enhancements that could deliver additional value to the MAISR customers.Liaison with WSM, WSM Liaison, Airworthiness Senior Design Engineer, Configuration Management (CM) and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and training matters pertaining to the MAISR fleet and its support systems (PTT and SIL).Representation of Team CERTAS at meetings with OEMs and with customers in matters related to the performance of the PME. This is expected to include Operator working groups, meetings, IPTs, presentations and preparation of reports
Qualifications
Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of aircraft installation, sensor integration and the airborne sensor systems typically found in ISR applicationsProven ability to troubleshoot difficult technical issues including replication in a SIL environmentSome understanding of the DND Airworthiness Program, including the Technical Airworthiness ManualDetailed knowledge of the following: Project planning, execution, and controlLeadership principlesGood understanding and experience with Information Technology Networking and computer technology would be an assetÂ
Skills:
- Experienced with MS Office Suite applications including MS Project, MS Visio and MS ExcelExperience with using a scheduling application, estimating workConducting Decision Analysis and Resolution exercisesBilingualism (English/French), would be an asset
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering or applicable technical or scientific disciplineExperienced at working as part of a team and leading teamsExperienced at working under field conditionsExperienced at working with FSRs, AMEs and aircraft maintenance technicians would be an asset Experienced with installation and other fielding, delivery and/or retrofit projectsExperienced and skillful in customer relations Up to 10 years of relevant aircraft Engineering experienceMust be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
